Men’s Identity

Men’s Identity

Navigate purpose, identity, and emotional well-being as a man.

You’ve done everything “right.” Good career, stable income, maybe a family. You’re the provider, the reliable one, the guy who has it together. But somewhere along the way, you stopped recognizing yourself. You’re not sure who you are beyond your job title, your role as provider, or what everyone expects you to be.

Maybe you’re successful but empty. Accomplished but directionless. Strong on the outside but falling apart on the inside.

You were taught that men don’t talk about feelings, don’t ask for help, don’t admit weakness. So you’ve kept it together for years, decades even. But now you’re questioning everything: Is this all there is? Who am I beyond my career? What’s my purpose? Am I allowed to want something different?

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience, I help men navigate identity crises, career transitions, relationship challenges, and the exhausting work of redefining masculinity on their own terms. This isn’t about fixing you—you’re not broken. It’s about creating space to explore who you actually are beneath the roles, expectations, and armor you’ve built.

You deserve a space where you don't have to perform strength, you can just be human.

Maybe You're Struggling With...

You built a life everyone admires

Career, house, family, you achieved everything you were supposed to. But it doesn't feel like yours. You're going through the motions but not really living.

You're the "provider" and "protector"

Your identity is entirely wrapped up in what you do for others. Take away the job title and the responsibilities, and you don't know who's left.

You're expected to be "strong"

Everyone leans on you. No one asks if YOU'RE okay. You can't show weakness because that's "not what men do."

You're questioning everything

Mid-life crisis? Identity crisis? Existential crisis? Whatever it is, you're questioning the entire life you've built.

You're emotionally disconnected

You don't know how to express emotions beyond anger. You feel numb, shut down, distant from the people you love.

You're tired of performing masculinity

Tough, stoic, unemotional, always in control, you're exhausted from the performance. But vulnerability feels terrifying.

And now the question you're here to answer...
Have I been living someone else's version of what a man should be?

Yes, and we’ll do it together.

What Men's Identity Therapy in Chicago Looks Like

Working With a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) in Illinois

Men’s identity therapy isn’t about making you more “manly” or less “manly.” It’s about helping you define masculinity and identity on YOUR terms.

Session 1-2: Understanding Your Story
We explore your background, your conditioning around masculinity, and what brought you to therapy. What are you questioning? What do you want that you don’t have? By the end of session 2, you’ll have clarity on what we’re working on.

Session 3-8: Unpacking Conditioning & Exploring Identity
We dig into the messages you received about being a man: “Don’t cry,” “Be strong,” “Provide for your family,” “Don’t ask for help.” We explore which messages serve you and which ones are keeping you stuck. We work on emotional expression, vulnerability, and connection.

Session 9-20: Building New Patterns & Making Decisions
This is where transformation happens. We work on communication with your partner, presence with your kids, pursuing purpose beyond career, building friendships, making career changes, whatever aligns with YOUR values. You practice vulnerability, emotional expression, and authentic living.

Session 20+: Integration & Maintenance
As you build a life that feels authentic, we shift to less frequent sessions. The goal is to help you live as the man you actually want to be, not the man you were told to be.

What Makes Men's Identity Therapy With Me Different?

I Don't Shame You for Struggling

Coming to therapy doesn’t make you weak. It makes you smart. I create a space where you don’t have to perform strength.

I Help You Redefine Masculinity on YOUR Terms

I won’t tell you what a man “should” be. We explore what masculinity means to YOU, not your father, not society, not your culture.

I Understand Cultural Complexity

Traditional masculinity varies by culture. As an immigrant myself, I understand navigating expectations from your heritage while building a life in modern America.
